Németh István atya, 1988. november 22. / december 5.-én, született Tatabányán, ahol a Sárberki (ma Pólya György) Általános Iskolában majd Tatán a Jávorka Sándor Mezőgazdasági és Élelmiszeripari Szakközépiskolában végezte tanulmányait. Tanulmányai befejeztével először Nagy Britanniában, majd Olaszországban élt, ahol a szállodaiparban és az ingatlan menedzsmentben dolgozott. Az ezekben az országokban eltöltött időnek köszönhetően, István atya egyaránt beszél folyékonyan angolul és olaszul. Érdekes módon olaszországban, a pápizmus otthonában ismerkedett meg mélyebben a Szent Ortodox Hittel, és itt gyúlt lángra szívében a vágy, hogy egy napon valamely módon Istent szolgálja. Külföldön eltöltött évei alatt megismerkedett leendő feleségével is, az olasz - görög származású Rossides Alexiával, akivel 2019-ben költöztek Sárospatakra, ahol Szent Tamás apostol templomának megépítésével megkezdték ortodox missziós tevékenységüket. 2020 október 5/18.-án, szentelték pappá Athénban. Ezzel István atya lett az első igaz ortodox pap magyarországon, akinek fő feladataként az ortodox hit magyarországi terjesztését jelölték ki és az ott élő hívek szolgálatát. 2023 július 17/30.-án "oikonomosz-i" rangot adományoztak neki magyarországi missziós tevékenységeiért.
Védőszentjének ünnepe augusztus 15/28.-a, a Legszentebb Istenszülő Elszenderülésének ünnepén van, amikor Szt. István, első magyar királyunk, megpihent Krisztusban, 1038-ban. Az egyházi nagyünnepre való tekintettel Szent István ünnepét az Elszenderülés ünnepe utáni első vasárnap tartjuk magyar igaz ortodox missziónkban.

Father István Németh was born on the 22nd of November, 1988, (5th of December by the civil calendar) in the city of Tatabánya, where he studied at the Sárberki (today Pólya György) Elementary School and then at the Jávorka Sándor Secondary School of Agriculture and Food Industry in Tata. After completing his studies, he lived first in Great Britain and then in Italy, where he worked in the hotel industry and property management. Thank to the time he spent in these countries, Father István is fluent in both English and Italian. Interestingly, it was in Italy, the home of papism, that he became more deeply acquainted with the Holy Orthodox Faith, and it was here that the desire to one day serve God in some way was kindled in his heart. During his years abroad, he also met his future wife, the Italian - Greek Alexia Rossides, with whom he moved from italy to Sárospatak in 2019, where they began their orthodox missionary work by building the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle. He was ordained a priest on the 5/18th of October, 2020, in Athens. With this, Father István became the first True Orthodox priest in Hungary to whom they assigned as his main task the service of the faithful as well as the spreading of the Orthodox Faith in Hungary. In 2023 on the 17th of July he received the honour of "oikonomos" for his missionary activities in Hungary.
The feast of his patron saint is August 15/28, the Feast of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, as St. István, the first king of Hungary, reposed in Christ on this day in 1038. Because of the great church feast in our Hungarian True Orthodox Mission we celebrate the feast of Saint István on the first Sunday after the feast of the Dormition.
